Parit Jawa Jetty (Pantai Leka/Leka Beach)

Parti Jawa Jetty (Pantai Leka) is one of two spots in Malaysia where lesser adjutants are still can be found due to a conservation effort by a local resident, ex-police inspector Poh Boon Chuan. The number of birds is increasing from only two in 1992 to more than 60 nowadays.

Parit Jawa is an important stopover and winter feeding ground for migratory birds. More than 60 bird species are found at Parit Jawa, including egret, eagle, heron, sandpiper, swift and kingfisher, and the State Government is in the process of gazetting the area as a bird sanctuary.
